It means 59.1mpg and 128g/km of CO2. Yes, you read that right. For a 177bhp car that does 143mph and 62mph in 7.9 seconds to emit less CO2 than a 1.1-litre Fiat Panda is nothing short of astounding.
On the BMW 320d with EfficientDynamics.
Fascinating how existing technologies can be so radically improved when a company puts its mind to it. A BMW 3 series the equal of, and probably the better of in real world driving, a Toyota Prius. Full environmental cost is probably a lot better for the beemer too as it doesn’t have those wonderfully environmentally unfriendly batteries.
By all means Toyota and co. should continue development of alternatives to petroleum powered vehicles. But the next time a BMW 3 series, or even 5 series, pulls up next to you and your Prius don’t turn your nose up.
