An Taoiseach will be visiting WIT’s Research and Innovation Center building where I work on Monday the 16th for the official opening. The TSSG and SEEP are hosted here and the place is fairly buzzing with activity. Plenty of press and other notables will be visiting. We should get a chance to demonstrate our project to everyone.
… you remember scribbling down a business plan at 4am for self-cleaning toilets but find your notes the next day blurred into eligibility and smelling of whiskey.
What a deadly weekend. Went with Fi and a bunch of friends to the Electric Picnic music festival. 3 nights and days of brilliant music.
I did get to see Groove Armada, New Order, Bloc Party, Cold Cut, Hot Chip, Pet Shop Boys, Basement Jaxx, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Laurent Garnier, The Rapture, Grandmaster Melle Mel and The Furious Five Cut Chemist & KOOP and a few others.
Just got back now and I am a bit wrecked so won’t say much more right now. Thanks to San, John and the others for a great weekend.
I managed to score an Electric Picnic ticket. Three days of bands, camping and craziness starting on the 1st of September. Highlights for me are Massive Attack, Mogwai, Groove Armada, New Order, Bloc Party, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals, Broken Social Scene, Basement Jaxx, Pet Shop Boys and The Blue Nile.
Should be a blast. Give me a yell if you are heading that way.
Spent a fantastic Sunday with Fi at the infamous Croke Park in Dublin. We watched Waterford take on and beat Tipperary in the Hurling Championship quarter-final.
9 tag rugby games later and The Shellakybookys show how much fun they had. We beat the Wallace Warriors last night and claimed the Grade C Bowl cup for 2006.
We have all had a great few weeks in the ITRA league.

As you can see we took some beatings but began to start winning with 4 straight wins at the end. A pity the final two games were not league games (one was a semi-final and the last was the final) as we would have posted higher on the league had they counted.
All the same we had a blast and will be back next year to challenge for the top cup.
The team from the TSSG will have to figure out what to do next as we will miss our weekly practice and game.
Thanks to the ITRA and other organisers for a great event.
