Paddy’s day

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

St. Patrick’s day yesterday was absolutely massive. I was part of Waterford’s St. Patrick’s Day parade onboard the ACSE boat which was a new and fantastic experience for me. Then it was off to the pub to watch Ireland hammer Italy in their Six Nations game. The 51-24 result meant France had to score 24 points more than Scotland in the following Six Nations game. That seemed a big ask and with Scotland doing well out of the gates we all thought Ireland had a good chance of winning the championship. France though started pulling ahead and at one point looked good to win. Somehow though Scotland pulled a try back and left Ireland in the lead. The pub went wild, celebrations about to begin when France in the last move of the game went over the line. But a Scottish defender had an arm under the ball and not even on the replays could anyone see if the ball was down. Somehow the TV ref gave the try and France won.

I have to say I haven’t felt that gutted over a sport’s result since South Africa failed in a Cricket World Cup years ago against Australia.

The day wasn’t over though and we happily watched Wales beat England.

Then the most amazing thing happened; Ireland beat Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup. Ireland beat Pakistan, who are ranked fourth in the world. Absolutely incredible. Easily the biggest shock of the CWC so far and probably for the rest of the tournament.

A pretty incredible day.

Oh man. Had a mad weekend in Wales. Brilliant but utterly mad. Lots more photos and stories coming soon, I just need a few days to recover.

Off to Wales

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I am off to the Sea Fair Haven 2006 in Wales for four days. Won’t have email or net access so this will be the last post for awhile and I won’t be able to handle email (anything important text me on +353 86 896 8944.) I bought a Vango Delta 200 tent and a Vango Ultralight II 900 sleeping bag, I’ll report on how they faired.

So till Tuesday morn’ when I’ll be bringing back a hangover, blistered hands, bruised shins, lots of photos and a big grin. Enjoy the weekend all.

Sea Fair Haven 2006

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

I’ll be in Pembrokeshire, Wales next weekend, 23rd to the 26th of June 2006, for the Sea Fair Haven boat festival. An Seabhac Mara will be there with the rest of the crew. If you are in the area then drop in and say hello.

Bob and The Eagles

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

How crazy-wonderful is this. I’ll be in Wales from the 23rd to the 26th of this month. On the 25th The Eagles are playing in Cardiff and on the 27th Bob Dylan is also in Cardiff.

I’ll definitley make The Eagles concert but will have to invent a teleporter to make Bob Dylan as it is the SOs birthday on the 26th back here in Ireland. It is The Eagles last tour but hopefully Bob will be up for another one.

Still. Two legends of music within two days of each other and not far from here. The Northern Hemisphere has its perks.
